Jan Łukasiewicz Award for Prof. Tomasz Bigaj

Prof. Tomasz Bigaj from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, will receive the Jan Łukasiewicz Award for the best work in the field of logic and philosophy of science on January 14, 2024 (the World Logic Day) in the Łukasiewicz Room at the Faculty. As part of the ceremony, lectures will be delivered by the Laureate and by Prof. Tomasz Placek and Dr. Bartłomiej Skowron. Congratulations. Below: the invitation and the program.

INVITATION

We cordially invite you to the ceremony of presenting the Jan Łukasiewicz Award for the best work in the field and philosophy of science, awarded by the Polish Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science. The ceremony will take place on January 14, 2024 at 2 p.m. CET in the room named after Jan Łukasiewicz (108) at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw (Krakowskie Przedmieście 3) and online.

Program:

  • presenting the idea of the award, winners and honorees in the 2023 edition;
  • lectures by the Laureate and the Distinguished:
    • Prof. Tomasz Bigaj, “Degrees of distinctiveness of objects: from logic to the philosophy of physics;”
    • Prof. Tomasz Placek, “On modal and local indeterminism;”
    • Dr. Bartłomiej Skowron, “What connects a philosopher and a topologist? Founding topophilosophy in ideal qualities.”
