Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, is a research institution located in Warsaw at 3 Krakowskie Przedmieście Str. It is renowned mainly for its contribution to the development of modern logic and analytic philosophy (Lvov-Warsaw School: Alfred Tarski, Jan Łukasiewicz, Kazimierz Ajdukiewicz, Tadeusz Kotarbiński, Stanisław Leśniewski) and to history of ideas (Warsaw School of the History of Ideas: Władysław Tatarkiewicz, Stanisław Ossowski, Maria Ossowska, Leszek Kołakowski, Adam Schaff).
The Faculty offers courses of study in cognitive science, bioethics, as well as a philosophy program (also conducted in English). It also offers doctoral and postgraduate studies. It provides BA degree studies (in philosophy and cognitive science), master’s degree studies (in philosophy and bioethics), doctor’s degree studies (in philosophy) and postgraduate studies in philosophy, both in Polish and in English.
It is a vivid place, which gathers open-minded researchers representing all subdisciplines of philosophy, working in 16 departments and collaborating in 10 labs and centres. They carry out various research projects, cooperate with scholars and institutions from all over the World, and organise a great number of international events. This faculty is one of the leading centres for philosophical studies in the region.
