The history of philosophy education at degree level in Warsaw dates back to the eighteenth century. The University of Warsaw was later made famous as a great philosophical centre during the interwar period, when the figures such as Jan Łukasiewicz, Władysław Tatarkiewicz, Tadeusz Kotarbiński, Stanisław Leśniewski and Kazimierz Ajdukiewicz conducted research and taught here.
Currently, the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Warsaw is one of the leading centres for philosophical studies in the region. In addition to classical philosophical teaching, the Faculty offers courses of study in Cognitive Science, Bioethics, as well as a philosophy program conducted in English. It also offers doctoral and postgraduate studies.
