Young Scholar Medal for Dr. Mateusz Łełyk
Dr. Mateusz Łełyk from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, received the Young Scholar Medal (Medal Młodego Uczonego) during the Warsaw University of Technology celebration on November 15, 2023. For the first time in history, this honorable distinction, awarded by the Warsaw University of Technology, was awarded to a representative of the humanities faculty.
The Young Scholar Medal, established by the Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska) in 2007, is awarded for outstanding and recognized achievements in the field of science and technical innovation and other outstanding creative achievements. The distinction is intended to promote the achievements of young scholars with independent creative concepts and special dynamics of development. The medal is awarded to people who are under 35 years of age.
Dr. Matesz Łełyk is a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, and an employee of the Department of Logic. He also belongs to the team of prof. Cezary Cieśliński, implementing the project “Epistemic and semantic commitments of foundational theories” financed by the National Science Center under the MAESTRO program. As Dr. Mateusz Łełyk himself points out, the proper area of his scientific activity is the philosophy of mathematics, and more specifically, issues related to justifying the correctness of axiom systems for mathematics. In his work, he uses formal tools of modern mathematical logic to model and explain philosophical problems.
