1-3.09 Wittgenstein and Classical German Philosophy

We would like to invite you to the workshop „Wittgenstein and Classical German Philosophy” that will take place at the University of Warsaw between 1–3 Sep 2021. The workshop aims to promote a modern philosophical dialogue capable of integrating the philosophical traditions that followed Hegel in the nineteenth century and Wittgenstein in the twentieth. Thus, the workshop takes up the threads of the conference “Wittgenstein and Hegel – Re-evaluation of Difference” (TU Dresden, 2017) and the workshop “Hegel and Wittgenstein – Negativity and Language” (Charles University in Prague, 2019).

Within the framework of “Wittgenstein and Classical German Philosophy”, the thematic connection to the two previous events will be made, but at the same time, the opportunity will be taken to broaden the focus of discussion in the context of Classical German Philosophy to include the developments around Hegel in authors such as Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hamann, Herder and Schlegel, but also the developments directly following Hegel, such as Feuerbach, Marx, etc.

At the event in Prague 2019, we presented the edited volume Wittgenstein and Hegel – Re-evaluation of Difference, Mácha & Berg (eds.),
