Spotkanie z prof. Michaelem Boylanem

Dziekan Wydziału Filozofii, kierownik Zakładu Etyki prof. Paweł Łuków zaprasza na spotkanie z prof. Michaelem Boylanem z Uniwersytetu Chicagowskiego, które odbędzie się 21 września o godz. 17.00 w Auli im. Marii Ossowskiej (s.116).

Prof. Boylan jest amerykańskim filozofem, poetą i powieściopisarzem, autorem 31 książek i ponad 130 naukowych i popularnonaukowych artykułów. Jego zainteresowania badawcze obejmują etykę, filozofię społeczną i polityczną, relacje między literaturą a filozofią oraz historię i filozofię biologii i medycyny.

Prof. Boylan odwiedza nas z wykładem pt. „Health as Self-Fulfillment”

Oto abstrakt jego wystąpienia:

Over the last four decades there has been a debate over objective understandings of health and subjective ones. This talk will argue that both approaches are right and wrong depending upon the narrow focus of what is the intended explanans for a given explanandum. This talk will then argue that an understanding of health from the vantage point of well-being understood within the confines of self-fulfillment is most important to the agent.
