MasterLanguage (universities of Amsterdam, Groninga, Leida, Nimega e Utrecht, Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam) is happy to announce that the Congress “Il buono amore è di bellezza disio: the idea of beauty in Italian language and literature” will be held at the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics on September 9-11, 2015.
The website address of the congress is http://www.hum.leiden.edu/lucl/research/conferences/upcoming-conferences/bellezza-2015.html.
About the congress
Inspired by Greek and Latin archetypes, the concept of beauty in the medieval and modern times took many forms, oscillating between mathematics and metaphysics, imitation and ideal of perfection, eternity and contingency. This interdisciplinary meeting aims to retrace the fundamental aspects of the idea of beauty in the history of Italian, through the relationships between language, literature, philosophy and arts. Therefore we invite researchers in these fields to submit their abstracts.
Masters and Phd students will have spaces reserved for them, as this event is organized within the Masterlanguage, a national program of specialized studies offered in the Netherlands. They are therefore particularly encouraged to apply and should indicate the status of student on the abstract.
The official languages of the conference are Italian and English. But having BRILL expressed an interest in publishing selected papers, English at least for final version of papers is required.
The event is affiliated with the Penne Prize to which a meeting will be dedicated at the Italian Cultural Institute in Amsterdam.
